Effects of Glucagon on Histamine induced Gastric Acid Secretion in Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of glucagon on histamine induced gastric acid secretion in rats.
The following results were obtained:
1) Both glucagon and glucagon plus histamine groups were increased in the PH and decreased in the acid output of gastric juice compared that of control.
2) Both glucagon and glucagon plus histamine groups were increased in the total protein of gastric juice compared that of control, but no change in the mucoprotein of gastric juice.
We conclude that glucagon reduced gastric juice secretion, but not reduced histamine induced gastric juice secretion.
